Shut Out That Negativity

So, I’d say I’m officially back from my internet break. I really missed blogging, and now that I’m back, I have so many fresh ideas to blog about.

After being offline for a while (no WordPress, Tumblr, Twitter, etc) I learned to do other things that I loved like photography/videography, cooking, meditating, enjoying nature, and being positive.

I noticed this only when I got back, but the internet can be so negative. YouTube is stuffed full with hate comments, everybody is complaining about the celebrity they hate, people are being murdered left and right on the news and I must say, the internet has been a really depressing place.

After learning this, I wanted to reach out to you. Make the internet a better place. Radiate positive vibes. Talk about things that make you smile. Encourage people to live in the moment and to enjoy life. Just go outside and breathe. There are so many things in life to love. This world that we live in is a beautiful thing. We humans just need to realize that. I know that humans will never get along, but can’t we just try? If you do, then you know that at least YOU aren’t the one contributing to hatred and negativity.

I’m proud of my sudden maturity these last few months, and some of the posts in the past that I have written are just so… negative. I won’t delete them, because they are memories and they show me growing as a person, but I will continue to grow. I hope you are with me on this. I hope we can work together.

So, I decided to write a post of a simple 10 things that make me happy. I highly encourage you to do the same, and if you read this, comment below (or even write a post) about 10 things that make you happy. I’d absolutely LOVE to read them. 🙂

  1. Nature. This one is a no brainer if you know me. When I’m in nature, I’m truly myself. I don’t feel the stress and negativity of modern city life. I feel serene and in the moment.
  2. Animals. Animals never cease to make me smile. They make me love the earth and all that it holds. They show me that life can be innocent and beautiful.
  3. Video games. They let me fill a role in a fantasy world where I can just escape. Whether I am kicking butt while being the intelligent Lara Croft or talking to Cortana in Halo, I am having fun.
  4. Anime. I have been an anime lover for only 2 years but it feels like a long time. When I watch anime I feel like I’m being immersed into a whole new culture. I learn a lot and laugh a lot as well.
  5. Sunny days. Now that it’s summer, I’m going to see a lot of these, which is so great.
  6. Chai tea. Simple, but magical.
  7. Cooking. Making things with my own two hands and then enjoying them is such a great feeling.
  8. YouTube. There are so many YouTubers that radiate so much positivity, and they make me smile.
  9. Hiking. Where I live, it is so beautiful and full of forests.
  10. Helping others. These aren’t in order, but helping others and seeing them thrive just makes me know my purpose in this world.

Thank you very much for reading. I can’t wait to read yours. 🙂

Why I Love Adventure Time So Much

adventure time opening pic.png

Adventure time is a show about a boy named Finn the Human and his magical best friend Jake the Dog. They go on adventures, fight monsters, and have fun.

Sounds simple, right? Wrong.

Adventure time seems pretty and colorful on the surface, but underneath there are dark and depressing tones. It is also very weird. It reminds many people of an anime because of its strange and colorful feelings.

Adventure Time is one of my favorite shows. I have been watching it for about 2-3 years now, and I’ve watched all of the seasons (season 1-6) about 2-3 times. I know this show quite well.

adventure time.jpeg

Even though it’s on Cartoon Network, (a children’s cartoon channel) I wouldn’t say it’s exactly a child’s show. Some scenes are just so scary and/or creepy that I just can’t imagine children watching it.

But the strange thing is… that’s why I love it. I am a fan of creepy and/or weird things, and I don’t know.. If I could describe myself by naming a show… I would say Adventure Time.

It’s also really funny.. I mean, who doesn’t love LSP?

lsp has beans yall.gif
When LSP runs away from home because her parents are “horrible idiots!”

Here are 5 reasons why I love Adventure Time.

  1. All of the characters have secrets and mysterious backgrounds. From not knowing who PB’s parents are or where she actually came from, to wondering why Jake used to be a burglar in a gang, this show is just so creative. That’s probably how the producers are able with coming up with so many episodes. It’s basically endless. Just search Adventure Time theories and you will get entire blogs based on the crazy and seemingly real theories.
  2. It’s funny. From LSP being sassy, to Jake shape shifting into a snail, the jokes and hilarious characters are so lovable. jake as a snail.gif
  3. There are endless theories. Adventure Time is actually quite complicated. Almost like a kid’s version of Game of Thrones or something. There are so many backstories, so many characters, and so much unknown history of what the Land of Ooo actually is. I absolutely love shows like this, because then I never get bored.
  4. It’s weird. I am a big anime fan, and so I’ve seen my fair share of weird things. Adventure Time is one of those weird things. It’s awesome.
  5. It has feminist characters. Princess Bubblegum, despite her “girly” appearance and adorable voice, is most likely the smartest person in Ooo. She is obsessed with science, and rules over the entire Candy Kingdom. Whenever Finn needs help, he always knows to go to PB. Another feminist character worth mentioning is Marceline the Vampire Queen. She is brave, tough, a little scary at times, and an all around amazing character. She is one of my favorites. She is like that cool rocker chick you secretly admire. She is also incredibly strong, and possesses very strong magical powers. pb and marceline.png

This show makes my heart melt. I love this show so much, and it always makes me feel so happy. You should definitely give this show a try if you haven’t watched it before. Don’t be scared off because you think it’s a kid’s show. It’s so much more than that.

Thanks for reading.

My Love for Anime and Why You Should Watch It

When I was 14, I discovered the world of anime. I remember that I found this YouTube channel called Noodlerella, and I clicked on her Adventure Time Impressions video. I thought that Connie was adorable and funny so I subscribed. I later found her blog and her anime favorites posts. I was kind of confused on what anime was but of course I had heard of it before. I searched online for some good anime to watch for people who had never watched it before, and so I found Gakuen Alice.

Gakuen Alice is not a very well known anime, but nonetheless it became one of my favorite anime/manga of all time. Gakuen Alice is about a little girl named Mikan and her best friend Hotaru. Hotaru moves away to a new and mysterious private school called Gakuen Alice for an unknown reason. Mikan misses Hotaru so much that she goes out of her way to take buses and trains all the way there. Later she finds out that there are special children who possess powers called Alices. She bumps into a teacher outside the gate and he realizes that Mikan also possesses an Alice and so she enrolls into the school without her grandfather knowing any of this information. Once she enrolls, she finds out that she can never contact the outside world besides sending letters, and they are heavily scanned. The rest of the show is about her life in Gakuen Alice. This show is extremely funny and lighthearted on the surface but these children also later face extreme dilemmas and problems that they must solve.

After watching this show, I was completely in love with anime. Especially shojou (romantic comedy I would say this translates as.)

Here are some reasons I would suggest watching anime:

  1. The possibilities are endless. Sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural, drama, horror, comedy, romance, and more. There are so many different types so anime appeals to everyone. There are also options (sometimes) in English, but I almost never watch anime in English because the dubbed version usually sucks, and I prefer watching the show how it was meant to be watched.
  2. It is incredibly funny. A ton of anime fans agree with me on this, but for some reason, I find anime to be much funnier than American TV shows (New Girl is probably the only American show that is actually funny to me.) It’s pretty hard to make me laugh, but anime never fails.
  3. The art is beautiful. Art-City-Buildings.jpg

Outdoor Anime Landscape [Scenery - Background] 111.jpg

I hear that the art of Japanese high schools are very realistic and people that travel to Japan say that the high schools look like they just came out of an anime.

4. You feel as if you are escaping to a whole new world. When I watch an American TV show, I feel like I’m watching a TV show, and since it’s in English, it’s a culture that I know quite well. However, anime shows usually take place in an alternate universe, and if they don’t, you’re still experiencing a whole new culture. I feel like anime is an escape for me. I can’t really explain it, but it’s really great.

Overall, whether you’re 13 or 29, you should definitely give anime a shot. I did and I am so glad that I did. You can learn a lot, and of course, have a lot of fun along the way. Here are some anime that I recommend…

Anime: Gakuen Alice Review

In 2014 I watched the one show that would introduce me to anime and so for that I thank Gakuen Alice.

Plot: Gakuen Alice is an anime about a girl named Mikan who has a best friend named Hotaru. Her friend Hotaru suddenly transfers to a new and mysterious school that is for geniuses only. That school is called Gakuen Alice. Little does she know, Gakuen Alice is a school for special children who possess magical powers called Alices. Mikan suffers with sadness when her friend leaves, and finally decides to sneak away from her small village and to Gakuen Alice to find her friend without her grandfather knowing. She makes it all the way there by herself, and she encounters some strange men who try to trick her into coming with them before a teacher named Narumi saves her. He has a hunch that Mikan has an Alice herself, and when she proves that she does, she is enrolled into Gakuen Alice. The school is heavily guarded and there are no outsiders allowed, and students are only allowed to send a few letters a year that are scanned and read by the staff.

The main story-line of this anime is about Mikan’s experiences in the school. This show is:

  • Funny
  • Cute
  • Dramatic
  • Interesting

I also recommend the manga if you want to continue learning about Mikan and her friends. I read all 180 chapters and I must say that this manga/anime is phenomenal.

Mikan Sakura

Mikan is kind, funny, cute, optimistic, and brave. (Especially in the manga.) She will do anything to help her friends, and she sees the good in everyone. She loves Hotaru more than anything. Mikan holds the nullification Alice, which means that she can counteract anybody else’s Alice.

Hotaru Imai

Hotaru seems cold, but deep down she is very caring. She is quiet, but very intelligent. She is very logical but lazy at times. She is one of my favorites. Hotaru holds the invention Alice, which makes her extremely intelligent and obviously, inventive.

Natsume Hyuuga

Natsume is cold, rude, and downright cruel at times. He absolutely hates Mikan when he first meets her, and gives a bad impression by teasing her with her underwear. Which she then thinks of him as a cruel pervert. However, deep down, he cares and likes Mikan. Natsume holds the fire Alice, which is one of the most rare and powerful Alices. He is very valued and worshiped in the school.

Luka Nogi (Or Ruka in Japanese)

Ruka is sweet, caring, and shy at times. Ruka is Natsume’s best friend, despite being his polar opposite. Ruka absolutely loves animals, hence his Somatic Alice. This Alice allows him to”tame” animals.

Those are a few main characters that I could think of. This anime is so sweet and nostalgic to me because it is my absolute first anime that I have watched and loved so dearly.

  • Cute
  • Sweet
  • Smart
  • Interesting

  • Only one season!

Rating: 5/5

I really recommend this anime to people who are just starting to watch anime or hardcore anime lovers.

Thanks for reading!

Black Butler Review

So, I just finished Black Butler. I know it’s like super late, but better than never, right? This show is so spectacular that I just had to share my thoughts. First, if you haven’t heard of the famous anime Black Butler, here’s a little overview. Also, this show is on Netflix right now, so if you have Netflix, make sure to give this show a try.

Plot: This anime takes place in Victorian England, and the main protagonist is Ciel Phantomhive, and his butler, Sebastian Michaelis. Ciel Phantomhive is a 13 year old Lord (if I’m not mistaken) and both of his parents have been murdered in an accident involving fire. He signs a contract with a demon to get revenge on the murderers in exchange for his soul. The demon is none other than his butler, Sebastian.

This anime is dark, supernatural, a little gory, dramatic, but funny as well. I have watched something of similar genre before. (Vampire Knight.) This genre is one of my favorites for anime.

I will admit, it’s a little boring the first 3-4 episodes, but trust me, it gets way better after that. If I hadn’t given it a full chance, I would have never known how good this show was.

The eye patch is not because he is blind in one eye, but because his right eye has a design that marks the contract between him and Sebastian.

Ciel Phantomhive: Ciel is blunt, a little rude, and cold, but rightly so. Both of his parents were murdered, after all. He wants nothing in his life but to get revenge. Once he does get revenge, he will have to give up his soul, thus ending his life. (Kind of sad.) Ciel is also very intelligent. He runs a toy company called Funtom. He also happens to be Queen Victoria’s “guard dog.” He helps solve crimes (like a detective) and reports his findings to the Queen. This proves how intelligent this kid is.

sebastian michaelis

Sebastian Michaelis: This butler is kind of mysterious. Because he’s a demon, he has incredible powers. He is incredibly strong, cunning, intelligent, and ruthless. He will do anything his master says because in the end, he wants his soul. Sebastian always knows how to pull through a tough situation, and he knows how to get what he wants.

grell sutcliff

Grim Reaper Grell Sutcliff: This dude is a grim reaper. Pretty self explanatory. He starts off as pretty evil, but later you see that’s he’s harmless. He’s very sassy, starry-eyed (for Sebastian), kind of heartless, and very strong as well.

lady elizabeth.jpg

Lady Elizabeth: Elizabeth or (Lizzie as Ciel calls her) is Ciel’s fiance. I’m pretty sure it was an arranged marriage, but nonetheless, both are in love with each other. (Ciel just has a hard time showing it.) Elizabeth is bubbly, sweet, but also kind of naive.

There are plenty of other characters, but those are just the ones that stuck out to me.

This show is kind of mature, (yes anime can be inappropriate.) So I would say that people 14 and up can watch this show. It deals with some adult topics such as murder, abortion, revenge, and it features tons of violence. However, don’t let that scare you. This is a show that’s about a young boy living in a harsh world, with harsh realities. It’s very interesting, and there are many funny parts as well.

Rating: This show has to be on my top favorite anime lists. I would definitely give this 5/5 stars.

I recommend this show to anybody looking for drama, supernatural beings, a little violence, and mystery. You never know the character’s ulterior motives on the surface, so it’s interesting to guess what they are really up to.

Thank you for reading!

Sunny Day Thoughts

The sun is making the raindrops on the trees sparkle. Nothing but good vibes fill the air. I love the rain, but when the sun comes out, I feel like being productive and positive.

This past week has been extremely busy so I haven’t been able to post anything. I have missed writing blog posts. It has been finals week at my school, so that will explain a lot.

I discovered a new genre of music on 8tracks. It’s kind of study chill indie Japanese music. It’s actually really good. I don’t like American indie music because they all sound like they are either sick or they screamed at a concert all night so they are left with a raspy, smoker-type voice. Yuck.

I am still learning Japanese, and I think I’m actually getting better. I am also watching a lot of anime. I might do a review on them soon. I am watching Black Butler (please don’t spoil anything!), RDG (Red Data Girl,) and I just finished Noragami (which was amazing! I really recommend it, although it might be weird for people who are new to anime. Actually, anime is always weird for people who are new to anime.)

I have also been playing a LOT of video games. I am replaying Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Seasoned Raider difficulty, which is almost the hardest. It’s really really difficult but I feel like it’s a lot more realistic. The difficulties have different names. They go from Adventurer (easy), Tomb Raider (normal,) Seasoned Raider (hard,) Survivor (really hard.) I still can’t get over the graphics in this game. They are phenomenal. If you have an Xbox One, I highly recommend it! You will not regret it.

I also got this Rayman Legends, which is super fun and the graphics are so pretty! It’s kind of like Ori and the Blind Forest mixed with Mario. It’s a great multiplayer game.

Well, the sun is really shining outside so I think I’m gonna do some work for a bit and then golf outside if I have time. I hope you’re enjoying the weather where you are!

Thanks for reading.
